About Us

The Jane Froman Singers is a mixed choral ensemble that prepares and performs a diverse repertoire that includes classical and modern choral standards, musical theatre, and show, jazz and close-harmony literature. The singers can be heard on two professional compact disc recordings. Simply American is a compilation of songs from the groups' many international tours and Peace which contains several of the works performed by the choir annually at the home campus Holiday Lighting Festival. Concert tours have taken members to New York City's Carnegie Hall, the great cathedrals of Scotland, England and Austria, and the state-of-the-art concert halls of The Republic of China.

Our Director

Nollie Moore was named director of the Jane Froman Singers in 1999. He holds both the bachelor and the master degree in music education from the University of Missouri. Under his leadership the Singers have established a tradition of successful collaborations with Mid-Missouri arts organizations in acclaimed performances of Ludwig van Beethoven's Choral Fantasia, Johann Sebastian Bach's Cantata Wachet Auf Ruft uns die Stimme, Ralph Vaughn Williams' Seranade to Music, Franz Joseph Haydn's Missa Brevis Joannis de Deo, and Paeteris Vasks' Dona Nobis Pacem with the Columbia Civic Orchestra, Dello Joio's To St. Cecilia with the Missouri Brass Consortium, Bob Chilcotte's The Making of the Drum and Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms with The University of Missouri World Percussion Ensemble, Aaron Copland's American Songs with the Missouri Chamber Orchestra, and fully-staged performances of Leslie Bricusses' Scrooge: The Musical and Lionel Bart's Oliver! with Theater Reaching Young People in Schools.

Founded in 1851, Columbia College has been helping students advance their lives through higher education for more than 150 years. As a private, non-profit liberal arts and sciences college, we take pride in our small classes, experienced faculty and quality educational programs. Originally founded as Christian Female College as the first women's college west of the Missippi River to be chartered by a state legislature, we changed our name to Columbia College in 1970 when we changed from a two-year women's school to a four-year co-educational college. We are a non-sectarian school welcoming students of all religious denominations, however, we have retained a covenant with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since our inception.
